Rapid conversion to native code
NCS provides a simple and rapid method of converting S36 applications to run successfully in native mode. The whole process is menu driven and accompanied by detailed user manual full of helpful suggestions.

OCL procedures become CL programs
Compiled CL programs are produced automatically from the original OCL procedures. It even translates most of the IBM procedures.
Parameters and LDA useage is converted to the CL equivalents, incorporating concatenations and substitutions into the structured CL code. S36 logic structures (IF/ELSE) are managed using native CL structures
Embedded CL statements, continuation lines and comments are all successfully incorporated into the resulting structured CL programs.

DDS file description builder
DDS file descriptions can be interactively created using the original RPG11 'F' and 'I' specification details from one or more original programs.
Physical and logical files are readily created, even multiple record formats are generated where necessary.
Conversion programs are automatically created to transfer the data from the original files into the new ones, eliminating decimal data problems in the process.

Menus go native
Native menus are generated from the original S36 menus. Display files, Message files, and SDA members are generated and the native menu is then created.

Screen formats have DDS descriptions
System/36 screen formats are converted to AS/400 display files. The conversion process creates DDS source members from the S/36 'S' and 'D' specifications. The display file is then created from the generated source.

RPG11 programs run as RPG/400
NCS makes automated changes to the structure of the RPG11 programs. These changes help the programs to run in the native environment. Initially programs continue to use internal redefinitions of the native file.Reports of all changes and any areas requiring intervention are produced automatically.

Sort processes translated
The system/36 #GSORT utility is translated by using the FMTDTA (format data) command. Sort source members are converted, inline sorts create source members which are modified during execution if there are substitution parameters involved.

Comprehensive analysis reports
A comprehensive set of reports is produced by NCS. Pre conversion analysis reports highlight any problem areas requiring programmer intervention, and during the conversion process, 'before and after' reports give an audit of the changes carried out.

A large user manual is included with the system which shows exactly how to convert systems from System/36 to native AS/400. Helpful suggestions and explanations of the process are included making the conversion much faster and less difficult than a manual exercise would be.
